Coronavirus Information

The Church will be closed until further notice

The Church of England has suspended public worship until further notice – in line with other precautions nationally, to slow the progress of infection to protect the most vulnerable. But the Church is the Body of Christ, and God’s believing and praying people continue their work.

Telephone Prayer Network If you’d like someone to chat and pray with you on the phone (just a little chat and some short prayers for ourselves and our world), or if you’d like to be remembered in the daily prayers in church please phone.

Isolated and without help? If you don’t know where to turn please call us and if St Matthew’s can help, we will.

We will continue our usual weekly e’mail newssheet to help every one keep in touch with activities at St. Matthews.  You can also keep in touch with or Facebook page. We will also be preparing a Sunday School Activity pack.

Our usual website with details of News and Events will still be available here.

During these difficult times the Church is sustained by the Parish Giving Scheme (the direct debit scheme, and we thank all those who have maintained their regular giving in this way!), but for those who aren’t able to benefit from this scheme, we have set up an on-line giving facility to allow you to donate by Credit or Debit Card.  The service is easy to use, and allows either suggested donation amounts, or you can specify your preferred amount. You can also add a few details to allow us to claim an extra 25% gift aid.  If you are able to use this via a credit card you may need your Securecode to authorise the transaction.  Click here to donate.
Initially this service will be used for general parish purposes (sustaining the ministry of our Parish), but as we gain in experience of using it, it may be extended to support some of our other charitable work.
